Marika Hughes with Marvin Sewell (June 11)
As a duo, Marika and Marvin present original tunes, jazz standards, and unusual covers. With the spirit and openness of jazz, they perform with a dreamy fluidity steeped in a deep groove. Marika is a native New Yorker, a cellist, a singer, an occasional radio host on WQXR, a storyteller on The Moth, and an actor in Stew’s latest show, Family Album, which premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She has performed and/or recorded with Whitney Houston, Lou Reed, Mary J Blige, David Byrne, and D’Angelo, among others, and has performed on Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Saturday Night Live. Marvin is a guitarist and composer who has played with the best of the best including: Anjelique Kidjo, Cassandra Wilson, Liz Wright, David Sandborn, Marcus Miller, Jorge Sylvester, Greg Osby, Joe Lovano, George Benson, Sekou Sanidiata and a host of others.

WMG (June 18)
WMG features three of New York’s finest instrumentalists from the city’s bluegrass, country, and swing scenes performing standards and original compositions. Grant Gordy’s electric guitar blends seamlessly with Raphael McGregor’s lap steel, while Jim Whitney’s bass lines provide a solid foundation for the group’s improvisational explorations. Modern and traditional sounds become one with these talented and creative musicians.

Matt Munisteri Trio (June 25)
Matt Munisteri is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. His own original compositions and lauded guitar playing link the rural and the urban, the long-gone with the contemporary. A sought-after accompanist, Matt has recorded with many of today’s finest and most individual singers, including Holly Cole, Madeline Peyroux, Liz Wright, “Little” Jimmy Scott, Catherine Russell, Kat Edmonson, and Loudon Wainwright. Matt contributed arrangements, guitar and banjo to Wainwright’s 2010 Grammy-winning CD Hight Wide and Handsome – The Charlie Poole Project. As one of “New York’s finest vintage guitar stylists” (Downbeat Magazine), Matt is regularly called upon to play on a wide range of CDs, movie soundtracks, television shows, and commercials, including The Aviator, Boardwalk Empire, Finding Forrester, and Ghost World.

Bob Stewart Quartet (July 2)
Over the last 40 years Bob Stewart has established himself as both an innovative tuba player and equally creative jazz educator. As a band leader, Grammy-nominated recording artist, and featured soloist Mr. Stewart’s playing has been featured on over 80 recordings. He has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Gil Evans, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Frank Foster, David Murray, Chaka Khan, and Aretha Franklin. He has been honored to serve as a panelist for the New York State Council of the Arts, worked as a consultant for JazzMobile, and was a clinician for the Louis Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp in New Orleans. He has appeared in Ken Burns’ “Jazz” series and was the subject of an award-winning, feature-length documentary entitled “Jazz on a Winter’s Day.” Touring both in the United States and internationally, Bob Stewart maintains a faculty position as professor of Jazz History at The Juilliard School.
