Commissioned by Arts Brookfield
Set against the bustle of midtown Manhattan, Yolk is part time capsule and part hidden treasure, offering meditative movement and saturated images of ready-made goddesses transforming within a fragile shell.
Third Rail Projects presents the world premiere of Yolk, a new durational dance performance for Grace Plaza. Born out of an Arts Brookfield-supported creative residency, Yolk furthers Third Rail Projects’ explorations fusing dance, installation art, and performance in the public sphere. Third Rail Projects is a multi-disciplinary performance company, whose site-specific projects and dance/theater creations have been honored with three New York Dance and Performance (BESSIE) awards, and its currently running production, Then She Fell, (which also received substantial development support from Arts Brookfield) was named a critics pick and named one of the New York Times’ top ten shows of 2012, as well as being one of Vogue’s “Top Theater Experiences of 2013.”
