Enjoy the art as you come and go, flex your art critic muscles, and savor the slice of LA culture that has been brought to you.
Since the mid-nineties, artist Megan Geckler has been focused on large-scale, site-specific artistic interventions. Geckler experiments with off-the-shelf construction items, lifting them out of familiarity and recontextualizing them into a new environment via precise and layered form. In 1999 Geckler discovered flagging tape, a mass-produced product used to temporarily demarcate construction zones. Flagging tape has since become Geckler’s signature material. The versatility and translucency of the plastic ribbon lends itself to being layered and woven, allowing her to expand upon the rather limited palette of colors and reimagine this simple material as complex geometric artwork and architectural line-drawings. Geckler currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
