Free Opening Reception, June 7 from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
In this collaborative show, Arts Brookfield is pleased to feature art produced by Denver’s Access Gallery whose mission is to increase access to economic, educational and cultural opportunities through the arts for people with disabilities. The large murals in this show were created through Access Gallery’s “Graffiti Gives Back” program where graffiti artists are paired with students not normally associated with graffiti; for example, elderly students suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s. In this case, the lead artist, Josiah Lopez, not only presents some of his own work but also the work created by his art students in this unique, award-winning project. The opening reception for STREET ART: Graffiti Gives Back is on June 7 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and will feature a fundraising element for Access Gallery. Many of the artists will be in attendance.
