NPAC: 12th Annual National Pictures of the Year: great photos tell stories. The News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) presents a showcase of the most powerful news images from 2018.

First Canadian Place is proud to partner with the News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) to present a diverse exhibition showcasing the most significant images in Canadian photojournalism from the past year as part of the 2019 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival.

The National Pictures of the Year Awards, which promote the best examples of high quality and ethical work captured by NPAC members across 17 categories, is the largest annual photojournalism competition in Canada. This year’s winners were announced at the non-profit organization’s gala awards on April 13th.

“Visuals are integral to storytelling. They humanize issues, put a face to victory, defeat, triumph and failure. Everyday visual journalists tell these stories with great respect and dignity to those who let us into their lives” Cole Burston, NPAC President.
