The ultimate selfie moment just in time for the holidays!

Words carry meaning, shape communities, and create pop culture. As the leading purveyor for public art initiatives in downtown Los Angeles, Arts Brookfield is bringing words to life with Monumental Words, an exhibition by artists Laura Kimpton and Jeff Schomberg.

This display of internally lit, oversized sculptures will be presented for three months at the premiere shopping destination FIGat7th (735 South Figueroa Street). With a collection of six-foot and 12-foot sculptures, the FIGat7th plaza will be all aglow throughout the holiday season. The installation is free and open to the public as part of Arts Brookfield’s continued effort to activate Brookfield’s public spaces through art.

Monumental Words, a series that debuted at the 2009 Burning Man Festival, provides a simple yet artistic way of expressing and sharing positive vibes. Using words and symbols with instant universal meaning and broad appeal, the sculptures are the must-snap, selfie moment of the holiday season. Visitors can spread love to family and friends near and far.

“In times of world change and strife, I find making art and placing art in public places my way of making change. This show of 12 foot XOXO and Rainbow LOVE spreads the perfect message of sending kisses and hugs and LOVE for all…especially (for) one’s self,” says artist Laura Kimpton.

Monumental Words opens on Monday, November 20 and is on display through Valentine’s Day, ending on Saturday, February 17. Free and open to the public, the installation will be lit each evening from 4 to 11 pm. For more information, visit www.artsbrookfield.com.
