An installation by artist Helmut Koller!
Brookfield Properties is pleased to present a special installation in celebration of Earth Day, promoting safe habitats and proper treatment of diverse animal species. Austrian-born artist Helmut Koller selected images of his intensely vibrant and colorful depictions of wild animals and installed large-scale versions on the windows of Bank of America Plaza.
Koller has coined his style of electric, color-saturated painting as “Kollerism.” The incredible precision of his imagery coupled with the surrealism of his extreme color palette renders the creatures both familiar and alien, locking them in an arresting stance and hopefully reminding viewers of the mesmerizing beauty of all living creatures..
Helmut Koller grew up in the beautiful Austrian countryside. After completing his training as a photographer and a brief professional detour to Germany, he became the official photographer for the Vienna State Opera.
For seven years he photographed superstars like Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Leonard Bernstein and Rudolf Nurejev. Feeling confined in Europe and eager for the ambition of America, Koller moved to Manhattan then Palm Beach, Florida where he now resides. In 1987, Koller made the transition from photography to painting and exhibited his super realistic “new pop” paintings of wild animals for the first time in Summer of 1998. Nowadays the rich and colorful world of Helmut Koller appeals to collectors on four continents.
In collaboration with the installation, Brookfield Properties will make a donation to the WildAid Fund in the month of April.
