Arts Brookfield presents one of Denver’s premier artists, Joel Swanson, in the solo exhibition In Other Words, opening March 20 and running through June 12 at Republic Plaza. In Other Words explores the relationship between language and technology, critically subverting the technologies, materials, and underlying structures of language to reveal its idiosyncrasies and inconsistencies. Swanson’s work featured in In Other Words is a collection of new and pre-existing works including I Know What You Are But What Am I, Logic Only Works in Two Dimensions, and Bill of Rights 1–10.
“Swanson’s play on words in artistic form is what makes his work so appealing. Words we say, use, or read every day now become conceptual but at the same time exciting and relatable,” says Carol Watson, Arts & Events Manager for Brookfield Properties U.S. Office Division.
The public is invited to a free opening reception on Thursday, April 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Republic Plaza on the Lobby and Concourse Levels.
