Jazz never stands still…it constantly evolves and reinvents itself. See this phenomena in action every 2nd and 4th Friday at Bank of America Plaza from April through October. Angel City Jazz, a non-profit committed to cultivating jazz culture in LA through its annual Angel City Jazz Festival, has partnered with Arts Brookfield to program this series. Spend your lunchtime enjoying live music from local musicians while you snack on goodies from the Bunker Hill Farmers Market!

Mahadev Bio

Led by award-winning 7-string and Indian Slide Guitarist/composer Dave Cipriani, Mahadev touches the mystic, the ethereal and the earthy. Its members bring intense studies of Indian music, african, jazz, balkan, classical and more into their unique and exciting heart embracing style of playing, with original compositions that range from danceable high energy virtuosic music to mellow, contemplative and hypnotizing long grooves.

Collectively, members of the band have studied or worked with Larry Koonse, Charlie Haden, Miroslav Tadic, Charlie Byrd, Christopher Parkening, Randy Gloss, Ali Akbar Khan, Aashish Khan, Barun Kumar Pal, Swapan Chaudhuri, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Houman Pourmedhi, Joe LaBarbera, Wadada Leo Smith, Vinnie Golia, among others.

Mahadev: My Heart is Pierced

Combining the familiar yet exotic Indian slide guitar, haunting African Blues, Qaawali and jazz-funk infused Tibetan Mantra, with nods to Radiohead, Balkan music and Buena Vista Social Club, My Heart Is Pierced (the second album by Mahadev) breaks the barriers between West and East.
