Jazz never stands still…it constantly evolves and reinvents itself. See this phenomena in action every 2nd and 4th Friday at Bank of America Plaza from April through October. Angel City Jazz, a non-profit committed to cultivating jazz culture in LA through its annual Angel City Jazz Festival, has partnered with Arts Brookfield to program this series. Spend your lunchtime enjoying live music from local musicians while you snack on goodies from the Bunker Hill Farmers Market!
Clint Dodson is a drummer and percussionist based in Los Angeles. His unique and propulsive drumming style is a product of his background in jazz, new music, and North Indian tabla performance. He views his playing and composition as a natural extension of the works of Paul Motian, Milford Graves, Andrew Cyrille, and Han Bennink. He has studied with such respected musicians as Joe LaBarbera, Swapan Chaudhury, Vinny Golia, Amy Knoles, Jonathan Hepfer, and Dana Hall, among others.
Clint Dodson’s music searches for common ground between free improvisation, jazz heritage, new music composition, and post-punk energy, resulting in highly malleable structures and a churning, kinetic rhythmic concept. He has performed and recorded with such Los Angeles artists as Vinny Golia and Darek Oleszkiewicz. He is also a member of the Los Angeles punk-jazz collective OFF CELL.
