Informed by the architecture of jungle gyms, Afterglow evokes a futuristic landscape, made of golden aluminum rods and transparent tubes filled with fluorescent liquid. The scaffold-like installation, covered with tropical growth, invites viewers to walk through it and move around it, hinting at experiences of childhood exploration. Texas-born artist Thomas Glassford, known for his large-scale installations and public works, was commissioned by the Museo Experimental El Eco in Mexico City to create the work in 2010.
Curated by Sally Reynolds in partnership with Sicardi Gallery.
