“It Was There”

James Nares

77 K Street, Washington DC 20002

The commission at 77 K Street gave the artist James Nares an opportunity to push through to another scale of working, much larger than he had ever attempted before. Nares’s paintings are made with a single brush stroke from brushes that he crafts himself. He suspends himself in a contraption above the flat canvas and moves from one side of the canvas to other creating a single unalterable brush stroke.
