Urban Artscape is a community initiative of Arts Brookfield and the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk that brings students from Woodcraft Rangers together with LA-based artists, Phil Lumbang, Andre Miripolski, Kim Abeles, and Lever Rukhin to create murals inspired by their imaginations, interests, and surroundings.
Four collaborative workshops, held on consecutive weekends throughout May and early June at Brookfield’s Bank of America Plaza, culminated in the creation of unique temporary murals. Each workshop was led by one of the Urban Artscape artists and attended by 10-12 Woodcraft Rangers students. The murals, created specifically for Downtown LA’s premier open air dining and shopping center, FIGat7th, take the form of banners in the style of each artist with ideas and imagery generated by the students at the workshops.
Every 3-4 weeks a new mural be put up on the construction barricades on the Plaza, and will stay up through September 14.
